Many people doing pro stuff have already returned this model - do it too within 14 days from purchase to let Apple know we don't pay premium for rubbish and untested devices. I'd only get one with the +£700 Radeon 5600M graphics card as they seem to be working better and quietly instead of spinning up fans from about 2000 to 5000+! Pros cannot work like this in particular when doing video conferencing - other people ask or complain about the noise at the other end not to mention device’s users after spending 8h in front of it. Another thing is for such a high price and "Pro" in the title one expects a thoroughly tested quality product that works up to a certain standard where work can be carried out without unncessary interuptions. There is a hardware issue Apple won't admit namely the Radeon 5500M (the standard option and possibly 5300M as well as they both use the same memory) graphics card causes the device to overheat badly by drawing about 20 Watt of power instead of 5 Watt (needed for light stuff such as internet browsing, mail or video conferencing) as soon as you connect one or more external monitors! There is a forum page with over 200 pages now where people are complaining about it. Serious overheatting problems when using with external monitors Unless you absolutely need the extra power in the latest M chip models for intense development tasks (such as graphics/video work), save yourself a whole heap of money and get one of these The trackpad on this laptop is absolutely huge, and is really nice.

The keys on this model are excellent, probably not quite as much travel as on my old MacBook, but almost exactly the same as my Apple keyboard. I didn't want to get the previous 15" model with the scissor keys issue. I chose this model to get the best bang per buck. However this one comes packed with a much more powerful CPU and also has a dedicated GPU. The screen is awesome, but then the screen on the 15" MacBook was already excellent, I can't say I notice the extra size, physically it's about the same footprint (size/weight) as the older model. The touchbar is OK, you can configure it by applications to simply show functions keys, which I have done for Microsoft Visual Studio code. I love the power/touch id, it's really quick and very reliable. The laptop is excellent, if you can find one that has been well cared for then go for it. I can't afford/justify the price of the newer models, and as I already have a USBC Thunderbolt docking station, the lack of traditional ports makes little difference to me.

I wanted to upgrade my MacBook Pro 15" 2013 laptop for something more recent as my current one cannot be upgraded beyond Big Sur MacOS.
